Hoag Prime, Newport Beach – Fashion Island Area

Trained and board certified in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, Dr. Safer is a physician that has the unique ability to treat patients of all ages from newborns to seniors. Not only is being a Med/Peds physician a great benefit to her patients, but this also affords her the ability to treat multiple generations of the same family.

Dr. Safer selected this field as she enjoys getting to know her patients, working as a team, and involving them in every step of their health care.  Most importantly, Dr. Safer likes to listen which is where she learns the most to provide the best possible care.  She joined Hoag Medical Group because she was drawn to the group’s core principles which allows her to spend the necessary time with patients and make sure that patient care comes first.

According to Dr. Safer, “I was first exposed to medicine when I was in high school and my dad underwent heart surgery. This was a pivotal point as I realized I enjoyed the field of medicine and the ability to care for others.” Over the past 14 years, Dr. Safer has had a very rewarding career and enjoys treating a variety of patients, practicing a wide breadth of medicine, and creating relationships with her patients. Prior to Hoag Medical Group, Dr. Safer also served as a Clinical Professor at University of California, Irvine.

She has helped train numerous medical students and residents over her 12 years at UC Irvine.

Dr. Safer attended University of California, Los Angeles medical school and completed the Harvard Combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics residency program, training at Massachusetts General Hospital and Boston Children’s Hospital. She has a special interest in chronic disease management, adolescent medicine, and preventative care.

Dr. Safer speaks conversational Spanish.  Outside the office, she enjoys spending time with her kids, mountain biking, hiking, and staying active.
